WHAT I LEARNED WHEN I READ THE BIBLE
Genesis 22 is where we learn God has told Abraham he is to sacrifice his son, Isaac, and in verse eight we see the 11th Old Testament prophecy of the coming Messiah. “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” (Genesis 22:8 NIV). It is in this verse we learn the Lamb of God (Jesus) is promised and that Isaac’s seed will bless all nations. “ …and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.” (Genesis 22:18 NIV). This is the 12th Old Testament prophecy pointing toward a coming Messiah.
