Introvert Creating a Welcoming Atmosphere

Q: I am an introvert, so it is difficult for me to determine what atmosphere is the most welcoming for people at a party. Any suggestions?

A: When people are attending a party, they are there to enjoy your company and the conversation of other guests. Inviting people that have similar interests (2 guests in real estate; 3 in education) will allow these people to make instant connections. If you provide plenty of food, a well-stocked bar, and you introduce your guests to each other, the rest takes care of itself. I always have light music playing in the background, candles lit, and the fireplace blazing (if not too hot). This sets the stage for a cozy evening. Who does not like that? People attend parties to experience the warmth of friendship. If you make this your top priority, your party will be a success.
