WHAT I LEARNED WHEN I READ THE BIBLE
“I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.” (Genesis 22:17-18 ESV). We see the promise that Isaac’s offspring (plural) will be multiplied and be greater in number than all the stars and the sand. But next, we see the singular “your offspring” will possess the gate of “his” enemies. This is referring to the coming Messiah. Galatians 3:16 states, “Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, ‘And to offsprings,’ referring to many, but referring to one, ‘And to your offspring,’ who is Christ.” It is in Galatians we are reminded that the promise of a Messiah has been fulfilled. How are we all blessed through God’s promise? Because all can accept the free gift of Jesus as our Savior. All we must do is ask.
