WHAT I LEARNED WHEN I READ THE BIBLE
God acts in many different ways in our lives. Sometimes through God winks (what some refer to as coincidence*), sometimes through others (doctor’s healing the sick), and on occasion He will physically intercede. In Genesis, to protect Lot and his family, the angels grabbed Lot’s hand and yanked he and his family out of the city to avoid God’s full assault on Sodom.
“But he hesitated. So the men grasped his hand and the hand of his wife and the hands of his two daughters, because the compassion of the Lord was upon him; and they brought him out and put him outside the city.” (Genesis 19:16 NASB emphasis mine).
Why did the angels forcibly remove Lot? Because Lot “hesitated.” Only two times in life have I felt a physical push on my back to GO. In both instances they were life changing directions I knew I was supposed to take, but I hesitated. I strongly felt God’s leading saying, “Don’t look back. GO!” Although nervous and uncertain I obeyed and went forward. The blessings that have come because of those choices have been immense. But more telling, with hindsight, are the life-altering, potentially devastating moments, that would have occurred had I not obeyed. When we hear that still, small voice – listen. And when God says, “GO!” Obey!
